Our patients and their families
The MUHC has put patients and families at the centre of the design for our new facilities. Through innovative architectural plans and layouts, we have created a therapeutic environment where high-tech meets human and where privacy, dignity, efficiency and innovation are integral parts of the design.
- Single-patient rooms for more privacy and better infection control
- The latest in medical technology to provide the most accurate diagnoses and the best treatments
- An abundance of natural light, gardens and green spaces to promote calmness and healing
- An intelligent design based on adjacency to optimize work organization and reduce the risk of errors
- Comfortable public spaces for visitors and families
Everything has been designed to improve the patient experience. For example, individual rooms will provide maximum privacy, comfort and confidentiality while allowing families and friends to become involved in the care process. The rooms will also be big enough so that medical equipment can be easily moved in and out: this means that treatments can be administered beside patient beds, which decreases the need to move patients and contributes to their feelings of safety and well-being.
Patients will also have control over the temperature and lighting in their rooms and can choose their own meals through a special ordering system.
Outside the rooms, carefully selected colours and works of art along with specially arranged gardens will contribute to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The New MUHC will be a reflection of its patients: friendly, engaging, and filled with hope.
